HFI has established partnership with  Talita Rise Up’s Safe Home program. Talita Rise Up is a non-profit organization that aims at addressing the needs of the most vulnerable destitute women and girls, orphaned children and the aged in identified areas of Ethiopia. Talita Rise Up’s Safe Home program provides women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence with comprehensive services that bring healing, promote survivors’ safety, gender equality, and women’s independence. The Executive Director of Talita Rise Up, Ms. Atikilt Janka, gave here everything for the well-being of those they serve. She is a recipient of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission’s Human Rights Defender Award.

“I visited Talita Rise Up Safe Home on November 30, 2024.  Everything was beyond my imagination.  A Western-standard safe home (shelter) that provides female survivors of violence with holistic services including and not limited to room and board, counseling, therapy, legal services, training in income generating skills and more.  As I didn’t know that the under-age girls (ages 7-13) I visited were survivors of rape and violence, I asked whose children they are.  It was so devastating.” Agitu
